Pain that has outstayed the injury can still be changed.

We help adults across north-east Melbourne describe, measure and work with persistent pain — and rebuild what it has taken.

Numeric rating scale
0 — no pain 10 — worst imaginable

A number on its own explains nothing. What it does across a week, and what moves it, is where the work starts.

Line drawing of a spine

Assessment, education, graded movement, and a written plan for the bad days.

What we hold to

Three ideas that change how persistent pain gets handled

Hurt is not the same as harm

Once tissues have healed, pain can continue as a protective output of a sensitised nervous system. That is not a reassurance — it changes what is safe to attempt next.

Pain is describable

Intensity, pattern, triggers, sleep, mood, and what you had to give up. Written down and reviewed, it stops being fog and becomes something with edges you can work on.

Capacity is built, not forced

Boom-and-bust weeks cost more than they return. We set a baseline you could repeat on a bad day, then raise it in increments small enough to hold.

Services

Practical support, built around your own week

Every piece of work starts from what the pain actually stops you doing — sleeping through, lifting the kids, sitting out a shift, getting back onto the trails.

Persistent pain assessment

A long first conversation rather than a five-minute history: how the pain began, what it does across a week, how you sleep, what flares it, what settles it, and which parts of your life it has quietly taken over. You leave with a written summary of what we found and what we would change first.

Pain education

Plain-language sessions on how the nervous system produces pain and why sensitivity can outlast an injury. Understanding the mechanism is what makes movement worth attempting again.

Graded movement and pacing

A starting level you can hold on a poor day, then measured increases. The aim is a week that stays steady, not one good day followed by three lost ones.

Flare-up planning

A written, rehearsed plan for the bad days: what to reduce, what to keep, who to tell, and when it warrants a call to your GP. Decided in advance, not mid-flare.

How the work runs

Three stages, reviewed as we go

Nothing here is open-ended. Each stage has a purpose, and we agree what would tell us it is working before we begin it.

Stage 01

Map it

Assessment and history, a shared picture of the pattern, and two or three goals stated in the language of your own week rather than in scores.

Stage 02

Build it

Education paired with a graded plan you can genuinely repeat. We set the baseline deliberately low and raise it only on the evidence of a steady week.

Stage 03

Hold it

Flare planning, self-management strategies, and a written handover so the plan survives without us — and sits alongside your GP and treating team.

About the practice

Registered in Victoria, working with people told to live with it

Master Your Pain Pty Ltd is an Australian registered company based in north-east Melbourne, VIC 3095. We work with adults whose pain has lasted beyond expected healing time — people who have already had the scans, the referrals and the advice to rest.

We do not replace your GP, specialist or treating clinicians. We add the part that usually gets skipped: understanding what is driving the pain now, and a plan you can run yourself.

Who we work with

Adults with pain lasting beyond three months — back, neck, widespread or post-injury.

People managing a work or transport injury alongside an existing treating team.

What we do not do

No diagnosis over the internet, no promises about outcomes, and no plan that only works on a good week.
